WOODBANK under 17s returned undefeated from their Easter tour of Holland and brought back two trophies. Seven wins and four draws from eleven matches was no mean feat.
Woodbank opened this tour on Good Friday with a visit to the Ajax complex in Amsterdam to recover from a half-time two goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Over Amstell U19s, thanks to goals from Danny English and Carl Price.
On Easter Sunday the Amsterdam Vespucci trophy was won in fine style, Vespucci going down 5-1 (Peter Lunn (2), Simon Kelly, Rob Philips and Steven Taylor).
Osdorp were next to feel the Reds shooting power 4-0 (Wayne Dalton, Kelly Philips and Michael Murphy).
Local side Farnworth put up a spirited performance before Dalton, English, Christian Gibbs and Jake Heap seized a 4-1 victory to lift the trophy.
Goalless draws with Alphen-En-Rhein, MSV utrecht and RFC Rotterdam were followed by 1-0 wins against Die Haghe (Dalton) and DSO Dororecht (English).
Dalton and Phillips were on three in the 2-1 victory over SDV Barneved then Delta Ockensburg succumbed 3-0 (English Heap and Murphy) seven games without defeat and the runners up trophy was secured.
