THOUSANDS of young people from the region will be taking part in a top games tournament hosted by Blackburn Borough Council.
The Mayor of Blackburn, Councillor Maureen Bateson, welcomed senior figures from sports councils and recreation services to the launch of the Lancashire Youth Games event at Ewood Park.
The Council is expecting more than 3,000 young people from the borough to take part in the games, which will include 25 sporting events such as canoeing and climbing, as well as team competitions such as soccer, rugby and cricket.
