BURNLEY'S march towards Second Division sanctuary can move a step closer tomorrow.

And after the Clarets put Swindon's promotion knees-up on hold, Burnley will be searching for more priceless safety points at Notts County.

"We've got a big game against Notts County, but after our display at Swindon we are all confident," said player-boss Adrian Heath.

"The draw at Swindon has put extra pressure on Carlisle and the teams below them. We know we are moving ever closer towards our safety target.

"The players have shown their hands now. I am just not going to accept anything less than the performance we produced at Swindon."

But Heath knows Burnley face a severe test at Meadow Lane with County on the verge of booking their play-off berth.

And after the precious 1-1 draw at Oxford, they still harbour faint hopes of catching second-placed Blackpool.

The Seasiders face Swindon Town at Bloomfield Road tomorrow in Division Two's match of the season.

"I know ours will be a difficult fixture because they are a side who do not give much away at home," added Heath.

"And Notts County will be up for the game because they need the points to help their promotion push.

"But, to be honest, I'm more concerned with our own performance.

"We showed just what we are capable of at Swindon. It was far and away the most satisfying performance since I took over as manager of Burnley in March.

"We've not looked as committed to the cause in any game as we did at Swindon. That is what pleased me most of all. I was delighted with the attitude shown.

"It was the discipline of the performance and the collective responsibility shown by the team which pleased me most.

"All of a sudden we are now showing a certain type of commitment that we've not shown before."

Victory for the Clarets and defeat for Carlisle at Brighton would leave Burnley just a single point from safety.

Heath will be forced into one change from the side which fought out a 0-0 draw at Swindon Town on Wednesday.

Utility star Gerry Harrison will miss tomorrow's tricky assignment at Meadow Lane.

Harrison begins a two-match suspension after his sending-off against Bradford City on Easter Saturday.

"We've no major injury worries for the game but losing Gerry is a bad blow," added Heath.

"His commitment and drive was important at Swindon and we are going to miss that so I will have to bring someone else in.

"Paul Smith is a possibility but he has had a problem with a bit of a bug recently."
