PUPILS enjoyed an extra Easter holiday while a major extension to their school was completed.
Youngsters at Higham Primary School arrived back from their break yesterday to find their school had been transformed. Most other youngsters had to go back to school on Monday.
The new building houses two classrooms to add to the three already there, plus an audio-visual library and a staff room. One of the existing classes has been extended and the rest of the school has been refurbished.
Head Janet Taylor said: "The children were getting lost all the time, which has never happened before. They were amazed, they thought it was wonderful.
"We are all very happy about the work. The staff have worked hard to make sure everything was right for when the pupils came back to school. We'd also like to thank all the parents and other local people who helped us sort everything out."
Work on the extension took almost 12 months and now means there is a room for each of the five classes and the school's 126 pupils.
