A BUSINESSMAN was subjected to a terrifying ordeal in the early hours of the morning when three men burst into his isolated house, it was revealed today.
Peter Nuttall, 45, was tied up in the living room of his farmhouse by three men.
The trio, one of whom wore a full-fronted crash helmet, disguised themselves by wearing crash helmets are believed to have escaped with around £8,000 in cash and jewellery.
Mr Nuttall of Carter Place Farm, Haslingden, was left with bruising but no serious injuries following Friday night's incident.
Mr Nuttall was woken by his dogs barking and was confronted by the raiders when he went to his front door. He said: "This was very frightening and I don't really want to talk about it at the moment."
The men burst in through a kitchen door and during a struggle, Mr Nuttall was forced to the ground and hit over the back with a heavy object.
He then had his legs bound and his hands were tied behind his back and his head was covered.
It is believed that the raid was carried out by professional thieves. Police believe the men came from outside the area.
Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with any information should ring Rawtenstall CID on 01706 215242.
