A STONE sculpture of Blackburn's famous crest is the centrepiece of a new landscape scheme on the fringe of Blackburn town centre.
The one-and-a-half metre high crest has been carved by Whitworth-based artist David Cudworth and incorporates the main elements of the borough's coat of arms.
The £10,000 project on the corner of Preston New Road and Adelaide Terrace also includes major landscaping and environmental work with an improved path and a new stone wall, trees and shrubs.
Development services committee chairman Coun Gail Barton said: "This is an important improvement scheme which will complement the other environmental enhancement work which is taking place throughout the borough
"It will provide a pleasant urban space for this part of the town."
