GREAT Harwood Town's amazing turnaround in form continued away at Gretna last night.

And Martin Eatough's men now know that a point from their final game of the season, away at Radcliffe Borough on May 4th, will guarantee them their place in the UniBond First Division.

But it could be settled even sooner. If fellow rivals for the drop Fleetwood fail to win this weekend then Great Harwood are safe. "It was a tremendous performance last night. I told the lads that we had to get at them early on and that's what they did," said Eatough.

Great Harwood took the lead after just two minutes when Russell Whalley cracked in a free-kick.

Gretna seemed stunned by the early blow and Great Harwood went for the jugular, doubling their lead on seven minutes when Steve Whitehead crossed for Paul Baker to score.

Gretna did enjoy some possession just after the break, but the Great Harwood defence coped well and never looked like losing their cool.

"In the last three games we have only conceded one goal and that was a penalty," said Eatough.

Rossendale entertain Newcastle Town at Dark Lane tonight in the North West Counties' League First Division.
