FRED Edwardson is being sent down under by his bosses!
In recognition of his 50 years' loyal service at Scapa Scandia in Blackburn, Fred and his wife Shirley, who also used to work for the firm, were presented with two tickets for a trip to Australia to visit their son, Christopher. Fred joined the Cartmell Road firm in 1946 as a trainee and worked his way up to become senior supervisor in the weaving department.
"It has been an excellent company to work for and the two tickets are a very generous gift," said Fred.
The couple, who live in Franklin Road, Blackburn, hope to fly to Australia in December after Fred retires.
Fred and Shirley received their tickets from managing director Paul Myerscough. With them were David Wrigley, Paul Bennison, Gregor Methven and Dudley Cannon.
