A THIRD round 79 prevented Paul Dwyer from featuring prominently in the West of England Championship at Saunton Golf Club.
Out of a field of 80, the 23-year-old Clitheroe star finished joint 23rd.
But it could have been so much better.
Level par after the first day (he posted a morning round two under par 71 followed by a 75), Dwyer struggled to combat the weather conditions on the morning of the second day.
Four bogies in a row and a double bogey soon after dashed his hopes.
But he recovered strongly to post a final round 72.
"I'm competing in a lot of events this year and I've made a good start," said Dwyer. The next big one is the Brabazon next month but I'll miss the Lytham Trophy as my sister is getting married on the same day."
