TEENAGE word wizards Penny Blythe and Lisa Baldwin will be pitting their wits against students from across the North West in the regional finals of a Scrabble competition on Saturday.
The 15-year-old Burnley girls, both pupils at Gawthorpe High School, Padiham, are off to Manchester Grammar School to fight for a place in the national grand final.
Competitors from as far afield as Stoke and Macclesfield will be scrabbling for words. The duo with the most points will be crowned regional champions and take part in the national competition.
In all 150 schools are taking part in the championship and 18 regional contests are being held.
