IF YOU want to get ahead get a hat - or several of them if you can.
Organisers of a fund-raising hat and shoe fashion show certainly took the advice, and raised more than £300 for the RNLI.
Colne Ladies Lifeboat Guild organised a fashion show at the Stone Trough Inn, Kelbrook, and Barnoldswick shop Finishing Touch provided just that, supplying a wide range of shoes and hats for the half dozen models to parade.
Around 80 people travelled to see the accessories and Finishing Touch has promised to donate 10 per cent of all sales from the evening to the RNLI, boosting the fund-raising even further.
Lifeboat Guild committee member Kathleen Smith said: "It was a marvellous night and we are pleased at the amount raised.
People have helped out by donating their services for free and we are grateful."
