HEALTH chiefs are urging more patients at Calderstones Hospital, to undergo screening for cervical cancer.
A study has revealed that few residents at the Whalley site have been taking up their invitation of a smear test.
The audit, which took place last year, showed only 34 patients had been screened with four needing follow-up treatment.
Now residents are being encouraged to have smear tests at GP practices in Whalley. Nursing staff at Calderstones have agreed to help the GPs conduct the test with the more "difficult" patients.
