A FIRM which can trace its foundations back 240 years, is busy building for the future.
Henry Ibbotson & Son was one of the first East Lancashire firms to take part in the Modern Apprentices scheme last year and is now hoping to recruit another two young people.
"We have always set high standards for our tradesmen, but their skill levels have previously not received official recognition," said Ian Ibbotson, managing director of the Forrest Street, Blackburn, construction firm.
"With Modern Apprenticeships we have a clearly defined structure to help young people learn essential job skills."
The firm is currently building a new health centre in Bangor Street and refurbishing Clitheroe police station.
"It was particularly pleasing when long-standing companies like Henry Ibbotson & Sons recognised and responded to the opportunities offered by Modern Apprenticeships," said ELTEC's training and development director Andy Fawcett.
