YOUNGSTERS came up with ideas on how best to give visitors a warm welcome to Burnley.
More than 60 children from Hargher Clough junior school, entered the competition to find designs for "Gateway" welcome signs for the town.
And there was a treat for the six winners when council leader, Coun Kath Reade, went along to school to thank them and present them with their prizes.
The designs embraced issues they thought people should be aware of - from safety to tidiness.
The winning design was combined from the best entries and the welcome sign will be erected at the Rossendale Road junction, close to the Happy Eater roundabout.
