SHOPPERS watched in horror as a man dropped a television set from a town centre multi-storey car park, missing another man by inches.
The incident happened when Blackburn town centre was packed with shoppers and workers on their lunch breaks.
An eye-witness said the man dropped the television set from a balcony near the clock tower on King William Street.
"At first I thought he was a workman with a lump of concrete but it turned out to be a television set," said the witness.
"He was shouting and then he suddenly let it go. He missed one man by about an inch - a second later and he would have killed him."
Police inspector Stuart Coates said: "Clearly this is serious and we would appeal for anyone with any information to contact us."
Anyone who can help catch the offender should contact PC Simon Broadhurst at Blackburn Police Station.
