THE piffle emanating from the Association of Protector Bar Manufacturers (Letters, April 12), cannot go unchallenged. Of course, vehicle bull bars serve a necessary purpose in agricultural environments, but for pity's sake, what justification can we have for fitting them to domestic vehicles?

These bars are designed to protect the vehicle from wild animals, not innocent pedestrians in an urban environment.

Common sense must prevail with a ban on these unnecessary dangerous additions.
