ABOUT 20 school girls joined Pendle Council for the day in a bid to broaden their career ambitions.
They shadowed staff as part of the nationwide "Take Your Daughters to Work Day".
Half the group were related to council staff, others were pupils from local schools.
Judith Moretta, the council's training officer, said: "Research shows that, up to the age of nine or ten, girls share the same ambition and confidence as boys.
"After that, their self confidence can ebb as they become more aware of 'acceptable' female roles.
"This scheme aims to put that right and show them women can aim high."
Taking part were Naila Aslam, Fiona Cockroft, Jan Byrne, Leanne Taylor, Andrea Potts, Andrea Beveridge, Kelly Ronson, Suzanne Hartley, Rachel Andrews, Shazia Iqbal, Janelle Radcliffe, Claire Astin, Gemma Louise Hindman, Katie Perry, Jennie Traynor, Victoria Doherty, Cheryl Tindall, Amanda Rebanks, Rachel Collings and Kate Morris.
