LANCASHIRE'S giant British Aerospace factories were today at a virtual standstill as a strike by more than 5,000 engineers began to bite.
Pickets on duty at the three major sites in Samlesbury, Warton and Preston turned away delivery vehicles this morning.
All production work stopped after members of the engineers union staged a mass walkout after a row on the final inspection line of the Tornado.
