READ professional Shahid Nawaz gave warning that he could be chasing records in the Vuax Ribblesdale League after a second impressive batting performance.

He rattled up 63 against Clitheroe, taking his personal total of 215 runs after just two games. Another 'maximum' put Read on top of the table with Nick Marsh scoring 52 and Jon Fielding taking 6-52 in 23 overs.

Gurinder Singh was also on hot batting form scoring 84 as Ribblesdale Wanderers claimed a six-wicket victory over Whalley with Martin Briggs chipping in with 50 not out.

Barnoldswick professional James Peterson was also in the runs, scoring 65 while opener Ian Scothern (46) just missed out on his half century. Padiham's professional Joseph Grant captured 5-91, but his side were left hanging on with eight wickets down despite an innings of 64 from Phil Metcalfe.

Earby fell just nine runs short in the run-chase after Blackburn Northern set a 192-4 target thanks to an innings of 85 from professional Ian Billcliff who teamed up with Nigel Robbins (64). Nigel Pickles scored 56 for the Applegarth club, but they fell just short.

Cherry Tree took a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Oswaldtwistle after restricting the New Lane side to 125-4 and Edenfield had little difficulty passing Settle's 99-9 total.

Great Harwood also suffered a five wicket defeat at the hands of Baxenden.
