A SCHEME to expand a training centre and provide business units to start-up firms is among the latest planning applications submitted to Pendle Council.
Pendle Training Group wants permission to build two factory units at the side and back of its premises in Netherfield Road, Nelson. It also wants to make internal and external alterations to its business and technical support centre.
The moves follow the business centre's success in gaining almost £1 million of European cash to fund a major expansion programme.
The units will provide space for small businesses which will be able to call on the expertise and resources available at the centre.
The plans are due to go before members of the council's Nelson committee on June 3.
Burnley-based Northern Carpet Group has also submitted its scheme to turn the Smith & Nephew Hollin Bank Mill site in Brierfield into a shopping centre.
The firm has applied for permission to convert the mill and to build a new access road from Churchill Way to the site.
The aim is to create a complex with a Victorian theme, creating around 200 jobs. It will sell household furnishings, furniture and other goods. Other planning applications include the following:
Erect two-storey side extension to 2 Dickens Avenue, Barnoldswick; erect conservatory to rear 2 Banks Bridge Close, Barnoldswick; erect house garage site next to 20 Pasture Lane, Barrowford; erect house, Wheatley Springs, Wheatley Lane Road, Barrowford; erect store to side of the Holden Centre, Gisburn Road, Barrowford.
