A BABY who battled against all the odds to survive a serious chest complaint has died in the arms of her mother.

Maisie Bibby earned herself a place in the hearts of East Lancashire people when she was airlifted by helicopter from Blackburn to Leicester for revolutionary treatment which saved her life in December.

The little girl, who was born three months prematurely, was nursed back to health at the Glenfield Hospital, with the help of a machine which took over the work of her lungs.

She was transferred from Queen's Park Hospital in Blackburn after contracting bronchiolitis.

Maisie was allowed home to Meadow Street, Accrington, with her mother Ruth early this year.

But the eight-month-old girl died on Friday after a short illness.

A funeral service is due to be held at Accrington Crematorium Chapel at 2pm tomorrow.
