ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly youngsters sowed the seeds of success when an exhibition of their artwork was staged.

Pendle Council joined forces with the local Friends of the Earth group to organise an art competition during the recent National Spring Clean week.

Youngsters were invited to think up a slogan or draw a picture summing up how they feel about litter and what can be done about it.

All the work was displayed at the Silverman Hall, Nelson.

The overall winners were from Park High School, Colne.

They received a £25 cash prize for the school and saw their design printed on T-shirts.

Shilpe Begun and Gemma Collins, both 12, show off their prizewinning T-shirts at Park High School, Colne.
