LANCASHIRE were facing a Benson & Hedges Cup washout at Chesterfield today.
Heavy overnight rain continued today and the umpires wasted no time in deciding on an early lunch, with prospects for later very poor.
As things stand both Lancashire and Derbyshire will take one point from the game. Lancashire reached 70 for 6 before rain stopped play yesterday with their innings still 11 overs short of the 25 which must be bowled for the result to stand.
That would leave Lancashire with five points from three games still needing to beat either Leicestershire or Warwickshire in the last two games to be sure of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
