WHEN government minister Lord Henley took time out of his busy schedule to meet local school children, he left them feeling somewhat perplexed.
"Is he a God?" asked one youngster, six-year-old Andrew MacDonald (pictured) of Mrs Barnes' Year One class at the Manor Road Primary school in Clayton-le-Woods. "Or is he a slave?" he mused.
The children fancied that Lord Henley was either a slave of the Queen or possibly a King when he visited the school this week.
The Minister of State for Education and Employment had gone along to see for himself the effects of government policy.
According to headteacher David Francis, the school has fared better than many under the spate of cuts in education.
Lord Henley also visited Liquid Plastics on London Road, which has undergone an extensive expansion programme.
