RADCLIFFE Borough are the inaugural winners of the Wells Challenge Trophy after defeating Mossley 3-0 in a rain-soaked final at Curzon Ashton.
Goals from the inspirational Luke Hardman (2) and skipper Andy Matthews clinched the victory for the Radcliffe side who now look clear favourites to clinch the league and cup double.
It was league cup week for both our local sides with Radcliffe sharing a six goal thriller with Chadderton only to go out on penalties.
Woodbank were 4-1 victors at St. John Vianney with Danny English, Carl Greenhalgh, Stuart Hutton and Rob Philips on target.
On the league front Radcliffe were comprehensive 9-3 winners at Ashton West End while Woodbank retained top spot with a 5-0 victory over Springhead.
Stuart Hutton, Carl Greenhalgh, Simon Kelly and a brace from substitute Jake Heap clinched victory to keep their outside hopes of the title alive.
On Sunday Woodbank bid to carry off the Manchester County Cup at the first time of asking when they take on Urmston Meadowside at the country ground, Brantingham Road (kick-off 11.30am).
Seven of the squad, Christian Gibbs, Carl Trimble, Steven Taylor, Simon Kelly, Stuart Kelley, Wayne Dalton and Carl Greenhalgh are in action on Tuesday at Leyland (kick-off 7pm) in the Lancashire County under 18s trials and on Wednesday (6.15pm, Nuttall Park) the Reds entertain Denton Villa.
A win will secure runners-up spot with a head to head for the title at Radcliffe on Sunday May 12.
