RAMSBOTTOM's opponents Accrington couldn't get the sleep out of their eyes on Sunday ... Peter Sleep that is!
The Aussie Test player, standing in for New Zealand professional Chris Harris who is currently on international duty, scored a superb, unbeaten 102, which included 10 fours and a six, as the Acre Bottom side amassed 211 for 4 in the Lancashire League.
Leg spinner Sleep then snapped up 5 for 55 as skipper Jack Simpson claimed five victims behind the stumps Accrington clinging on at 141 for 9 at the close.
The other team to the north of the borough, Edenfield, scored 199 for 5 in the Ribblesdale League against Settle, 99 for 9.
Greenmount grabbed a three wicket win at Astley Bridge (153 for 9) in the Bolton League. Brett Collins claimed 5 for 50 before Gary Chadwick (40 no) and Andy Sibley (38 no) steered the visitors through.
Walshaw suffered two eight wicket defeats in the Bolton Association while Elton, losers on Saturday, were held up by rain at Clifton on Sunday.
Of the three local teams in the Central Lancashire League only Stand registered a victory, Mike Warden's unbeaten 78 seeing them through by seven wickets against Littleborough (170 for 4) Radcliffe lost twice but wet wickets denied Stand and Unsworth their scheduled Sunday matches.
Mark Whelan's 61 runs helped Prestwich (142 for 9) to the paints against Longsight (141 for 8) in the Lancashire County League but Dave Usher's 5 for 34 fell on stony ground as Woodbank were all out for 91 replying to Denton West's 153.
Two other local sides fell short of the three figure mark for in the Manchester Association Brooksbottom were all out for 76 against Ashton-on-Mersey (77 for 6) while Bury were all back in the pavilion for 51 against Monton (52 for 2).
