Leigh had posted a healthy 179-7, Colin Marshall unbeaten on 51, Dave Dove cracking 40 and Steve Bailey 25.
Wigan then took up the challenge and looked to have the upper hand with 50 in 11 overs. Bailey then picked up both openers - and, suddenly, the match began to ebb one way, then the other.
The final over...four required for victory, two wickets standing.

Duddle runs out the last man for a breathtaking two-wicket win.
Twenty-four hours earlier half-centuries by Greg Dimery and Bailey secured a nine-wicket win at Northrop Hall in the Liverpool Competition.
With Duddle taking 4-40 and Dimery 3-32, Hall were always in trouble and closed at 125.
Leigh made short work of their target, Dimery unbeaten on 52, Bailey blasting 55 and Dove finishing off with 13 for 131-1.
