DRIVING up from Lincoln to celebrate a 90th birthday during the May 18-19 weekend will be a 1930s Leyland Lion double-deck bus fully dressed in Lancashire United Transport livery.
The big occasion is the Boyle Street, Manchester, Museum of Transport's commemoration of the LUT's milestone birthday.
And there's also an Open Day on May 19 at GM Buses at Atherton with other preserved buses, and a vintage bus service running free between the two depots.
Former LUT employees are invited to a reunion on the 18th, so if you want more information call the Museum on 205 2122.
The Leyland Lion from Lincoln will be the oldest LUT bus in a parade of cheerful red vehicles that once ran from Manchester to Liverpool and from Warrington to Blackpool, taking commuters to work and holidaymakers to the seaside.
The museum is open from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and from 11am to 4pm on the Sunday, and there's a charge for admission.
