CRANE driver Steve Mooney has shot to fame as the face of his firm - purely by chance.
Steve, based at crane hire firm GWS's Great Harwood depot, was delivering a crane to one of the firm's other depots so it could be photographed for a new advertising campaign.
Marketing manager David Campbell saw Steve and realised his was the face they were looking for to help promote their new corporate image and enlisted him to appear in trade press adverts.
"We needed someone who portrayed an image of experience, trust and care - and Steve fitted the bill exactly," said Mr Campbell. "Since the new corporate image was launched, it has had a considerable impact and we have had a great response."
And for Steve, of Roe Lee, Blackburn, his new found fame has been exciting for his family - wife Gail and daughter Danielle, six,.
"Perhaps the person who is most proud of me is my little girl Danielle," he said.
"She's made sure everyone at her school knows her dad's a star and carries the GWS advert with her wherever she goes."
