EXCELLENT! Straight off the front page of Vogue magazine. With great use of stripes and colours to extenuate the subtle shape, topped off with a very fashionable multi-coloured mini (roundabout). I refer, of course, to the new-look Harwood New Road (opposite Nightingales Garage, off the A680 Whalley Road, Great Harwood, above).
But what is the red 'blob' on the left hand side, 100 yards from the junction with the A680??
For the purposes of this letter, I shall call this thing The Mump. Brave is the cyclist/moped rider, with the now almost compulsory "car sniffing your rear tyre" attitude, who swerves to avoid transgressing The Mump. If this is some fiendish device to stop motorist speeding, then the irresponsible motorists must be quaking in their boots. We all know The Mumps' value as a deterrent to poor driving, but what was its construction cost?
May I suggest a couple of constructive criticisms to the persons responsible? Firstly, be more conservative with the stripes at the junction of the 'slip road' and, secondly, try to stop wasting time and our money on road 'fashions' and use it to repair and maintain the present poor roads.
