WITH reference to the article on the Church Street Pavilions by Sol Buckner in last week's Citizen, it seems a shame that these buildings are earmarked for demolition.
However, Blackburn Council's development services officer Jane Reeve said "we welcome any suggestions of how to restore them to their former glory."
May I make a suggestion. Could some or all of the work required to refurbish these buildings be incorporated into the course work of craft trainees at Blackburn College.
The sites are nearby and within walking distance of the college. Could the college help out?
As to the buildings' usage, I am sure some functions could be found for them - more suggestions please.
If this was to be done, I am sure students would be pleased to see the results of their work on display for all time.
