"CHAMPIONS, champions, champions," they sang. And what a weekend it was!
Saturday saw Preston North End crowned champions of their division - and heralded a weekend of celebrations culminating in an open-topped bus tour of the town centre and massive civic celerbations outside the Harris Museum .
The atmosphere, the colour, the passion, and above all, the pride; it was a glimpse of the past sprinkled with an optimism of what the future might hold.
Preston North End is an incredible football club, made even more incredible by its fantastic supporters.
One gentleman even travelled all the way from Hong Kong to see the emotional match!
Everything about the weekend's events reflected the intense pride people have in this great old club.
For one elderly gentleman, it was all too much.
On an emotional day, he obviously thought about the glory days of yesteryear and shed a tear.
Saturday May 6 1996 is the start of great things.
