LABOUR forged ahead on an anti-government tide today as election night left East Lancashire Conservatives at their weakest in the town halls for more than a decade.
Labour had control of Rossendale for the first time since local government reorganisation in 1974.
The party swept to power in Hyndburn, winning all six Tory seats, took overall control of Blackburn and strengthened its hold on Burnley.
