POLITICIANS from a housing blackspot were today hopeful of government backing for a new plan to speed up slum clearance.
Hyndburn Tory MP Ken Hargreaves and a delegation from Hyndburn Council saw Housing Minister Sir George Young about a new blueprint for better homes.
Their case gained support from the Bishop of Blackburn, who wrote to Sir George to plead for more money on Hyndburn's behalf.
