POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at Blackbrook post office at around 10am this Wednesday morning.
Two men - one with a handgun and the other brandishing a sawn-off shotgun - entered the post office on Blackbrook Road, shortly after a cash delivery.
They threatened and assaulted the male assistant and escaped with a large amount of cash - the figure has not yet been disclosed.
The men escaped in a white BMW - possible registration M764 PNB - towards Manchester.
St Helens police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the BMW before or after the incident, or anyone with information. Please contact the Crime Management Unit at St Helens police on 0151 777 6050, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
ST Helens police also raided 12 local addresses on Wednesday morning as part of Operation Bumblebee, and as a result charged eight people in connection with burglaries from dwellings, outbuildings, sheds and garages.
