RICHARD Green staked a strong claim for a Lancashire recall in Thursday's Championship game against Notts at Trent Bridge with a five star show for the second team at Haslingden yesterday.
The 20-year-old Warrington-based all-rounder, who impressed in the pre-season games against Yorkshire, but has since been left out in the cold, exploited a fast, bouncy Haslingden wicket to take five for 55 on the first day of the Second Eleven Championship game against Sussex.
Steve Titchard, unveiling previously hidden bowling abilities this season, claimed two for 26 from 20 overs and there were also two wickets for teenager Paul Ridgway as Sussex were dismissed for 155.
Lancashire also struggled against Sussex seamers Keith Newell and Jason Lewry, but Nathan Wood continued his consistent start to the season with a battling unbeaten 39 to guide them to 82 for four.
