SIR: I would like to ask the people responsible for the bowling greens on local parks, if anything is to be done about football being played on park greens. Rumworth Park green is ruined, and the bowlers have had to move to Haslam Park.
The greens on this park are also being damaged in the same way along with Sunnyside, Heywood and no doubt others. There are plenty of football pitches available but it seems that these youths would rather damage a bowling green than play on a proper pitch.
Notices should be placed on all parks warning against the abuse of all park facilities and action taken against any offenders or their parents if necessary. Anyone interested in bowling should press local councillors, the police, the Parks Department etc before it is too late and we have no bowling greens left.
Mr F Griffin, Melbourne Road, Bolton.
