BRITISH Aerospace's Military Aircraft Division, which includes the Samlesbury and Warton sites, has won a major health and safety award.
The firm was presented with the Sir George Earle Trophy by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents for its safety record over the past four years. The division also won the engineering industry sector title in this year's awards.
"BAe has clearly demonstrated that they recognise the importance of health and safety management by continually improving their policies and performance," said David Walker of RoSPA.
"By winning these awards, they are recognised as a company which is one of the leaders in the field of occupational health and safety management."
Mike Rouse, managing director of the Military Aircraft division said the award was a "tremendous honour". It is the result of a major team effort and I would like to personally thank them."
The military aircraft division also includes sites at Brough, Surrey and Farnborough.
