FORMER Conservative councillor Mrs N Bramley-Haworth accuses me of not getting my facts right in connection with the mini-village that has planning permission on land off Cravens Brow on the Blackburn-Darwen boundary (Letters, May 6).
Along with my colleagues, I am on record as stating that if this application could be decided now, then permission would have been refused.
Unfortunately, Blackburn Council is landed with decisions made in the past.
Outline permission for residential development was first given on land at Fernhurst Farm/Cravens Farm on August 23, 1973, for 125 acres.
This was reinforced on October 6, 1983, when the then District Plan was adopted by the Council.
How Mrs Bramley-Haworth can blame the Labour Party for this plan is something of a mystery when at the Council Meeting of October 6, 1983, there were only 27 Labour councillors present, while 29 opposition members were present - including Mrs Bramley-Haworth!
