THE first civic duty after Blackburn's new Mayor, Councillor Mary Leaver and her Consort Keith Ladd, are installed on Thursday, will be a special luncheon to raise funds during Christian Aid Week.
The pair will mingle with the public at the bread and cheese luncheon at St Mary's House on Cathedral Close in Blackburn on Friday.
It will be the highlight of Christian Aid Week fund-raising by the Blackburn and District Council of Churches Christian Aid Committee, who are having a charity shop in the old SPCK Bookshop on Cathedral Close.
The sale will be running all week until Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday from 10am to noon.
The luncheon will be held from noon until 1.30pm. Everyone is welcome to both events.
