A SAFE house scheme offering sanctuary to threatened people could be coming to Leigh.
Following similar leads nationwide to combat bullying Westleigh could follow suit.
Kerry Reynolds of Westleigh Community Partnership is gathering information from other areas after locals suggested joining forces.
Partnership secretary Pam Stewart explained: "Safe homes would be identified with a triangular sign once the occupants have been vetted."
And Police are examining whether such a scheme would be feasible in the area.
Chief Inspector Steve Westcott of Leigh Police said: "It is an idea that has been tried elsewhere and it does have some merits.
"We will be examining it for its suitability in this area.
"There are some drawbacks - the 'safe' house and the house owner might become a target. It isn't without its pitfalls."
A JUMBLE sale to buy youth club equipment is being staged by Westleigh Community Partnership from 2pm on Friday, May 24 at X11 Apostles Club. Jumble donations and volunteers welcome.
