PROVIDING a relief service for carers in the community the Bury Crossroads Care scheme has become the first charity to be awarded the title Investors in People by the Bury Bolton Training and Enterprise Council. Bury Crossroads, which is affiliated to the National Association of Crossroads Care Attendants Schemes Ltd., employs 19 part-time care attendants, four part-time administrative staff and a full-time manager.
It is led by a board of nine voluntary directors, some of who are carers.
The scheme provides an average of four hours relief a week to individuals who care for relatives within the family or at home who may be suffering from physical, mental or sensory impairment.
It is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at times to suit the carers and people with disabilities.
In some circumstances the scheme provides care attendants for people living alone.
