ONE of Blackburn's oldest Scout and Guide groups is in danger of closing down if funds for repairs are not found.
St James' Scout and Guide group, which has been running since the 1930s, needs £15,000 for repairs on its run-down hut.
The hut, on Northfield Road has fallen into a state of disrepair.
Organisers have now set up a Hut Restoration Appeal to raise cash for heating and plumbing repairs. St James' Supporters Group secretary Janet Chester fears the group could close or have to switch premises.
Mrs Chester is appealing for support with a fund-raising raffle and quiz night at St James' Church lounge, St James Road, on June 8.
"We are also looking for firms to sponsor us, and any donations will be greatly received," she added.
The group are now in the process of planning a large summer event, and are hoping to involve everyone in the community.
Donations for the restoration fund can be made by ringing Janet Chester on 679280.
