FORMER County Palatine housing boss Barry Neill has quit from the local health authority.
The announcement was made to the Wigan and Bolton Health Authority, where he had been vice-chairman since April 1. Mrs Jane Monk is the new vice chairman.
Mr Neill who was sacked by Leigh-based County Palatine Housing Society for 'gross misconduct' notified the Secretary of State for Health, Stepehn Dorrell, of his resignation.
Police Commercial Fraud Squad officers are investigating a complaint that Mr Neill had unapproved private work carried out at the Society's expense.
Mr Neill has also quit as chairman of Wigan Hospice Council.
