A WILDLIFE site is being opened up to the disabled - but volunteers need help.
Marshland saviours from the Grimewatch award-winning Lomeshaye Marsh Preservation Group have protected and developed the riverside site for several years.
Now they want to improve access to the wetland site to enable visitors in wheelchairs to get greater enjoyment from it.
Group spokeswoman Judy Yacoub explained: "Until now, we have concentrated on improving the habitat for wildlife.
"This is an ambitious project which will enable many more people to enjoy the wetland in the future.
"Access to the countryside for the disabled is extremely limited in Pendle, so this project could, literally, break new ground."
The work is being funded by Lancashire Rural Action, the Mersey Basin Trust and Pendle Borough Council.
Equipment is being supplied by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers but more volunteers are needed to make the operation a success.
Full training will be provided for volunteers who are advised to wear sturdy shoes, old clothes and gardening gloves. Tetanus immunisation is recommended.
The scheme starts tomorrow and runs for four days.
The site is situated on Lomeshaye Industrial Estate just off Lindred Road and next to Delta Electrical.
