A PAIR of teenage skaters, based at Blackburn Arena, could be heading for Olympic glory after sweeping the board in national ice dancing competitions.
Budding Torvill and Dean, Amanda Galloway, aged 14, from Great Harwood, and her partner Christopher Lomax, 16, from Darwen, picked up four first prize medals in the Streatham and Deeside open competition.
The talented twosome were rewarded with selection for a four-day Junior Olympic Squad Seminar under the guidance of top American coach Bernard Ford in Swindon.
The pair, trained at Blackburn Arena by four-times British Ice Dance Champions and former World Professional Champions Sharon Jones and Paul Askham, are former British Primary Champions.
Despite their tender years - they have two more years to skate as juniors - they are currently rated third in the British junior ranks.
"They are very talented and highly promising," said Sharon.
"They get on very well and work together as a team. When they were in Swindon they attended drama on and off-ice classes and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the pre-Olympic set-up."
