LANCASHIRE County Council has gone global to attract tourists to the region and the Internet link is already paying dividends.

"Surfing the Net is the latest craze for computer buffs and they are already splashing down in Lancashire," said the county's tourism sub-committee chairman Coun Roy Lewis.

"A World Wide Web user from Buffalo, near Niagara falls, decided to call us for information after he was intrigued by the Internet.

"He is among many superhighway surfers who have contacted our tourism officers in search of holiday information."

Surfers can access the A to Z guide of services and travel and tourism information. The web site is: http://www.lancashire.com/lcc/lccindex.htm.
