A NEW state-of-the-art water ride is under construction at Waves Waterfun Centre in Blackburn.
The giant spiralling ride, the only one of its kind in Lancashire, has been dubbed 'The Alien Experience' and comes complete with music, flashing lights, closed-circuit cameras and outer space graffiti.
Area Manager at waves Mr Steve Fitzmorris said: "This is one of the best rides going and is fast, smooth and exhilarating."
The old slide was fitted in 1986 when the complex opened to the public, but since then the world of water slide technology has progressed at a rapid speed.
The bulk construction of the ride will be completed by Friday, but the slide will not be open to the public until Saturday, June 8, prior to a trial the previous evening by staff, councillors and employees from Blackburn Council. The official opening of the ride will take place on Saturday, June 15.
Waves will re-open for the half-term break but the slide will not be is use until June.
