LIKE others, I would add my goodbye to Noel Wild.
When he became editor of the Nelson Leader, I was able to help him on some feature stories and we became somewhat friendly.
I also gave him and his wife, Joy, a hand when I removed a wasp-nest from their garden.
So farewell, old friend and I'll consult 'Our man in Higham' - a favourite phrase of Noel's and often quoted by him as the source of some report.
He was in fact, one of Noel's drinking pals, but it looked good when in print and Noel was a good journalist and entertaining too.
He could also occasionally hold an audience of afternoon drinkers spellbound in one of his favourite places, The Dressers' Club, in Nelson.
ALBERT J MORRIS (Mr), Clement View, Nelson.
