WHEN it comes to showing off their business skills three Leigh firms have proved that they are among the best in the region after walking away with top awards.
The three, Direct Security Group, Atherton Windows of Leigh and Peter Miles Engineering Ltd, took their prizes in the annual Wigan and Leigh Business Awards.
Altogether more than £8,000 in prize money was handed out to competing companies in the event in Wigan on Friday.
More than 250 people packed the Investment Centre to honour the winners who were announced by TV personality Anthony Wilson, host of Granada TV's 'Flying Start' programme.
The Direct Security Group were given £250 for being Runner Up in the Best Firm employing upto five employees, with a £250 prize also going to Atherton Windows of Leigh for reaching Runner-Up category in the Best Firms section for those employing between six and 25 employees.
The third success for Peter Miles Engineering was also a cheque for £250 for being Runner-Up in the Company of the Year group.
John Flamson, Chief Executive of Wigan Borough Partnership, said: "Our panel of judges was full of praise for the standard of this year's entrants. And I know they faced a hard task because this year we had more entries than ever before.
"Winners and runners-up should all be proud of their achievements, they are fine examples of good practice and successful businesses throughout the borough and I know that they will act as excellent ambassadors for Wigan and Leigh wherever their businesses flourish."
